Things had happened too fast for him to have a moment to stop and call people. They were coming for Jake and he couldn't lose him. He found a hotel room as soon as he could find one, using cash. He just turned him and his son into fugitives. As much as he missed Sam he wasn't sure it was fair to ask her to come to him and Jake, but she also deserved to know he was alright and was sorry he left. So he called her from a burner he bought.

Jake only nodded and got up moving closer to her.

She smiled as he moved closer, patting the bed for him to sit down if he wanted. "You wanna sit down? Maybe we should find you some clothes to wear...you and me both. We can't take off in our pajamas, can we?" she teased, watching him. From the first day she'd met him, there was something between them that she couldn't explain.

He thought a moment then went and crawled on the bed with her, while Martin watched them from the small kitchen with a smile. Jake nodded at her words then out of the blue hugged her.

When he hugged her, she was speechless, glancing up at Martin before her arms wrapped around Jake and she hugged him back. He hadn't done this very often and it always happily surprised her. She just never knew when he would pull away.

Martin smiled and brought breakfast over for Jake and set it on the table. "Come eat buddy." He looked at Sam and smiled. "What would you like?"

Jake pulled away just as quickly as he'd hugged her and she fought the urge to ruffle up his hair, knowing that would be bad. She got up and walked over to Martin, looking over at the small kitchen. "What are you having?"

"A cup of coffee." Yes, bad Martin.

She gave him a look which meant he wasn't getting by with just coffee. "Let's see what you have that we can BOTH eat." She looked and decided on eggs and toast. "I'm gonna make sure you eat good...both of you." She didn't know how well off his wife had left them and he didn't know she'd drained her savings account to go with them.

Martin smiled at that taking a sip of his coffee. They'd be well off for a bit and he'd just tell her to keep hold of all her money. That he'd take care of everything. "Alright. Sounds good to us."

Sam smiled and busied herself making them breakfast. Ten minutes later, she handed him a plate of scrambled eggs and toast. "Here you go, some actual food."

"Thank you." He stole a kiss from her.

You're welcome." she smiled, nuzzling against him before sitting down at the table beside Jake and patting the empty chair beside her. "Do you know where we're going today?"

Martin came and sat down beside her eating a bit thinking. He shook his head a bit. "No I don't really."

She glanced over at him as she ate and shrugged. "Doesn't really matter, does it? As long as we're not found." And that had her thinking of something else. "How'd you get here? You didn't buy a car, did you?"

"I was loaned a car, but dumped it off." He looked at her.

She looked up at him at that answer, "Who loaned you a car?"

"Jake's aunt." He finished off his eggs and toast.

"So now what? Were we staying here a while?" she asked, the movie Thelma & Louise now stuck in her head as she wondered if anybody would be coming after them.

"I was thinking we could stay another day, or maybe just get a little further away." He smiled softly.

"We can do anything you want. Maybe stay here and figure out where we're headed." She wasn't sure since she was a little late to the party. "When we do leave, how are we doing that?"

"I'll pick up the car." He smiled gently. "Or get a new one."

"Maybe Jake will be the one to decide our direction if he starts writing more numbers." It was a shot but she didn't know if that stuff would happen anywhere they were or just in NYC.

"That is quite possible." Martin looked over at his son and nodded. "We'll relax here for a few days."

She looked over at Jake beside her and then back to Martin. "You definitely need to relax some." She grinned when she said that because resting and taking it easy wasn't the only way he could relax.

He chuckled and smiled wrapping an arm around her. "Can relax better with you here with us."
